First shots from SLR

I’m introducing a new series on my blog for photography.

I’ve always enjoyed taking photos. My first camera, when I was 5, stamped every picture with a turtle on the bottom-right. That’s right, the ninja turtle cam — it had the true “toy camera” effect, no instagram required. Man, I’ve must of gone over 100 rolls on that little thing.

Going from that to 35mm cameras, photo labs, and advance digital cameras — I never took the plunge to get an SLR… until about 2 weeks ago and it felt so good. I picked up the Canon Rebel T3i with 50mm lens. Not only is this a phenomenal setup, but the lens is a prime lens (no zooming), which teaches you how to really compose and frame an image.

Now, being that this is a hobby of mine (a passion if you will), I don’t want to do it commercially. I don’t want someone to tell me what to photograph. I want to keep it a passion. And if a few photos are a good fit for stock photography, then so be it. I’ll have to see how it goes.

I hope that you will enjoy the photos as much as I did taking them.

Here are a few of my first shots…

These are really beautiful, I like to know when they are available for download/purchase.

    • Richard Hanley Jr.

I might put a few on a stock photo website. I’ll let you know when it’s available.

Also, I’ll sell them individually for $25 a high-res if you like. Feel free to shoot me an email.
